Position Overview:
NURSE ADVISOR

Millard Health - Medical Services
Permanent, Full-Time Position

The Medical Services Department at Millard Health requires a Nurse Advisor to assist in providing medical support and services to physicians, clients and our stakeholders. The ability to work collaboratively in a fast paced and dynamic team environment is essential. Responsibilities will challenge the Nurse Advisor to combine clinical skills with strong educational and interpersonal skills.


Responsibilities:
Act as a professional clinical resource requires communicating to case managers and other customers of Millard Health assessment results, recommendations for further treatment and/or assessment, and gain approval from the referral source for next steps.
Perform nursing functions and assist physicians with providing clinical services in the Occupational Injury Service and Visiting Specialist Clinics, e.g. client intake, communication with employers and client teaching.
Communicate the outcome of external clinical investigation/consultations to the client, referral source, and establish next steps.
Perform ECG's and blood pressure readings and assess client's status as required.
Support ongoing medical education needs of the programs/services at Millard Health.
Develop education and information for services and all associated programs.
Act as a liaison between physician and other clinical staff at Millard Health.
Act as a resource for Millard Health/WCB staff requiring advice/guidance on client medical conditions or concerns.
Participate in pre-assessment booking file reviews to determine appropriate assessments to conduct.
Provide advice and recommendations for ongoing disability management as needed.
Complete program evaluation data for various services.
Participate as a team member in the assessment, treatment, and return to work planning for injured clients.


Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science in Nursing or Diploma in Nursing. Occupational Health Nursing certification an asset.
Active registration with CARNA a must.
Excellent presentation skills as well as communication and customer service skills are a requirement.
Considerable recent experience in a clinical setting, medical office/treatment setting or health care business environment combined with experience and/or training in injury/disability management and rehabilitation.
Current proficiency in a variety of computer software applications, i.e. MS Office
Familiarity with WCB process and objectives would be an asset.
Familiarity with auto/disability insurance process and objectives would be an asset.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.


Salary:
Salary Range 11: $70,284 to $88,454 per annum (with market supplement)
