Position Overview:
Case Managers are part of a professional team that provides quality proactive services to clients who require injury, medical, vocational or rehabilitation management resulting in the client's safe and early return to productive employment or employability. Initially, as an Adjudicator you will be responsible for determining initial entitlement to benefits and services including disability payments and medical services through policy interpretation and application. As you progress to Case Manager, you will be responsible for developing detailed claim plans for longer term disability management which involves facilitating specialized return to work coordination and vocational services. We require individuals who thrive in working in a high paced environment and have strong initiative and organizational abilities. Caseloads are maintained through direct contact with the clients by phone with extensive use of complex on-line computer business applications.

Responsibilities:
Initial Adjudicator Responsibilities:
• Determining the relationship between mechanism of injury, diagnosis and relationship to entitlement by gathering and analyzing relevant information.
• Obtaining medical opinion as required and coordinating or authorizing medical investigation treatment.
• Establishing compensation rates, determining the appropriate wage replacement benefits payable and determining medical aid and non-rate based entitlements.
• Determining entitlement to medical services and vocational assistance.
• Communicating detailed information regarding all entitlement decisions and other claim management issues to clients, both verbally and in writing.

Progressive Responsibilities:
• Identifying and developing detailed plans with interested parties to return claimants to suitable work.
• Coordinating and facilitating medical services and timely vocational services according to your plan.
• Assessing, monitoring and adjusting outcomes and plans based on medical, vocational or other information coming onto a claim file.
• Finalization to resolution of claim closure.
• Documenting Return to Work plan, determining vocational and wage loss entitlement, in alternate return to employment assess temporary/permanent.
• Maintaining a caseload within department standards to ensure quality customer service to all stakeholders and acting as an educator and negotiator in managing stakeholders’ expectations.


Qualifications:
• A degree or diploma preferably in Social Sciences, Kinesiology, Rehabilitation or Business with related experience in disability management, medical rehabilitation, vocational rehabilitation or employment counseling is an asset.
• A strong customer service focus along with your ability to build credible business relationships with stakeholders and to reach agreement on a course of action will be a key aspect of this role.
• As our focus is based on relationship building to make employers and injured workers the most important part of our business, strong verbal and written communication skills along with great interpersonal and negotiation skills will lead to your success in the role.
• In addition, you will have problem solving and critical thinking skills, an ability to learn quickly, a strong record of personal achievement and have solid decision-making and planning skills.
• Computer knowledge and keyboarding skills are essential and familiarity with medical or rehabilitative terminology would be an asset.


Salary:
ADJUDICATOR/CASE MANAGER: Start Rate: $48,924 to Job Rate: $80,256 per annum

Note:
If you are a successful candidate, progression to move into a Case Manager position is based on business requirements, competency, and job performance.

Note: Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security clearance. Keyboard skill testing and a written exam will be administered as part of the selection process.
