Position Purpose

Provides efficient and effective research services to staff and researchers in order to increase the Faculty’s research funding. Works closely with faculty to prepare competitive grant applications to major funding agencies, international programs and foundations; facilitate planning and preparation of group grants; identify new research opportunities and inform individual researchers of these opportunities; identify opportunities for and obtain industry and government contracts, in collaboration with the Technology Transfer and Business Enterprise Office; promote our researchers and establish contacts with potential research collaborators, nationally and internationally; promote individual researchers for awards and prizes; and ensure that appropriate administrative procedures are applied and followed.

Essential Qualifications

Knowledge of science acquired through graduate university studies
Knowledge of how to work with the main funding agencies
Knowledge of research strategies and methodologies, including computer-based analysis
Excellent writing skills
Experience in preparing grant requests
Project management experience
Experience relevant to developing and managing international agreements and research activities
Experience with computer systems and software such as Windows, word processors, spreadsheets, desktop publishing programs, statistical programs, e-mail, Internet
Ability to apply marketing knowledge to the research sector
Interpersonal and communication skills
Bilingualism – English and French (oral and written)
