Position Purpose

Performs tasks related to payables and journal entries in the University’s computerized finance system. Enters various financial transactions for the annual acquisitions budget. Manages six purchasing cards and communicates with suppliers to ensure payments are processed and reconciled monthly in the University’s finance system. Makes all deposits, processes payments from students related to disciplinary measures and all other sources of funds. Prepares and verifies all requests for payment. Carries out various administrative functions such as compiling statistics, posting journal entries for interlibrary loans, etc.

Essential Qualifications

Experience with accounting principles necessary for approving invoice payments
Ability to work with a variety of finance software and tools, including Banner, FAST, Innovative Interface, DEPS, SIS and other applications such as Windows, word processing software, databases, spreadsheets, email and the Internet
Ability to work well under pressure and organize work to meet firm deadlines
Ability to accurately process invoice payments using a computerized system
Data entry skills
Strong attention to detail
Superior communication skills in order to deal effectively with internal partners and outside suppliers
Ability to work with a variety of office software

Temporary assignment or contract of 12 months, with possibility of renewal. Eligibility to benefits and union affiliation will be determined upon hiring

To obtain a temporary assignment, internal candidates must receive approval from their immediate supervisor.

Schedule with an average of 35hrs/week.
