Job description

Position Purpose

Responsible for coordinating the pre-award processes related to key strategic programs that are administered at a senior level, including internal and external chair programs (e.g., University Research Chairs and Canada Research Chairs); internal granting programs for faculty and students; and internal and external prizes and awards (e.g., Early Researcher Award, Young Researcher of the Year and Royal Society of Canada Fellowships).
Acts as a liaison between University of Ottawa researchers, faculty research facilitators and administrators, and the agencies responsible for external chairs, prizes and awards.
Liaises with the post-award management team. Oversees the processes involved in the creation, functioning and review of university centres and institutes. Provides guidance and assistance to the research community in preparing grant and award applications and in the establishing centres and institutes. Participates in developing, evaluating and reviewing internal policies and procedures.

Essential Qualifications

Undergraduate degree or equivalent experience
Knowledge of the principles and methods involved in research administration and granting program management
Demonstrated experience in working in a university, research administration, or research environment
Experience in using computer systems and software, including Windows, PowerPoint, word processors, spreadsheets, databases, email, Internet
Excellent interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communications skills in French and English
Ability to manage and make progress on a diverse range of concurrent, complex projects and initiatives to meet firm deadlines
Ability to work independently while exercising excellent judgement at all times

Note

Temporary assignment or contract of 12 months, with possibility of renewal. Eligibility to benefits will be determined upon hiring.
This position is excluded from all union accreditation units.
