Senior Engineering Project Manager

JOB TYPE: Permanent full-time
LOCATION: Montreal, QC
TRAVEL REQUIREMENT: Approximately 35%-40% of travel is required.

IMPORTANT:
• Mobility is crucial for this role. Must be present at site and/or contractor premises according to project’s needs, and must travel to the Company’s HQ in Europe for onboarding, training, and alignment with overall Company organization.
• Must have a valid Canadian Passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Must have a valid driver's license and an impeccable driving record.
• Excellent French and English verbal and written communication skills is required.

NOTE: Strong verbal and written English communications skills is required for this role, as you will need to communicate with stakeholders, consultants and clients in Canada and Europe on a regular basis.

EHS is a top priority for our client. The Senior Project Manager will promote and represent the Company’s desired EHS culture by:
• Ensuring that EHS requirements are prioritized in the execution phase.
• Conduct work tasks in accordance with the Company’s EHS policies and practises.
• Complete all mandatory EHS trainings.
• Be the EHS ambassador with high level of EHS focus for both the Company as well as contractors and other external partners/stakeholders.
• Ensure that direct reports know and comply with the standards, policies and rules related to EHS and actively promote these in their respective teams.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
As Senior Engineering Project Manager you will be responsible for constructing the first large scale plant in Quebec safely and on agreed time and cost.
You will have the overall responsibility for managing the project according to requirements stated in the Project Charter and Project Manual.
You will be accountable for achieving the project’s targets within EHS, sustainability, cost, schedule, and quality.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Establish and implement an effective organization.
• Manage personnel to ensure a professional execution of responsibilities.
• Deliver the project according to the Project Manual, Project Execution and Procurement.
• Responsible for Strategy and Manpower Projection Plans (MPP) and initiate update of these if needed.
• Implement Company procedures, systems, tools, and best practices.
• Ensure implementation of specific authority orders/requirements
• Responsible for appointing authority contacts/coordinators in cooperation with the Project Sponsor as required.
•. The Senior Project Manager has the overall responsibility for monthly reporting tasks with support from the Project Control Manager.
• In addition, the Senior Project Manager will have the overall responsibility for follow-up of EPCM contractor as well as other key contractors with the support of the technical and commercial projects teams for the specific contracts.

REQUIREMENTS:
• Bachelor or Master of Engineering degree
• Member of the Order of Engineers of Quebec
• Minimum 10 years managing large scale industrial investment projects.
• Proven EHS mindset and demonstrated behavior based safety mentality.
• In-depth knowledge of the Canadian industrial sector, including governing laws, regulation, and standards.
• Strong team management and leadership skills.
• Ability to build and manage efficient teams.
• Ability to set goals and drive delivery of the project.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently.
• Accurate and precise attention to detail
• Ability to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions.
• Ability to manage simultaneous challenges.
• Experience working in a proactive risk-based approach.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office; Microsoft Project and experience with Project Management software preferred.
• Excellent French and English verbal and written communication skills is required
